OKAY!!!! Finally I get this up!! Goodness. It has been a ridiculously crazy, stressful, busy week.
I'm planning my sons *1st* birthday, working, I had THREE exams and then just normal day to day lovely-ness.
But I'm here now, so I'm just going to jump right in.
Most of my favorites for this month aren't new to the market products but since this is a new blog I'm going to basically go over what I've been using for a while.
1. Mario Badescu Gylcolic Foaming Cleanser.
I know I just did a review on this stuff, but seriously I love it. I try to get everyone I know to try it at least once. It has done so much for my skin. After having my son last October, my skin has gone through some changes. For the longest time I looked like I was in 8th grade again. It was terrible. This stuff has done an incredible job at keeping my skin in check!
2. Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray
I haven't done a review on this product yet BUT I can promise you I will very soon. This product is absolutely perfect for hot humid days. It smells so good too. I feel like a queen walking around smelling like roses.
I use this spray for so much! Just a few of my uses:
- refresh my face and neck during the day
- a quick cool down on hot, gross days
- I use it almost daily to set my makeup
- it's perfect to spray on your brushes to grab more pigment when applying eyeshadow or powdered liner
- and it's very relaxing to spritz on right before bed (after moisturizer)
When I was first thinking about buying this product I was like mmmeeeehhhh...it can't be that great. It's water that smells like roses, big whoop. Well I was in Ulta one day (buying literally 3 other MB products) and decided it was now or never. I think I was secretly excited because the first thing I didn't when I got to my car was spray my face and neck. OH MY GOSH! I fell in love. It made my tired, sleepy face feel so good. Needless to say, I will never not own this stuff. :) One more thing I love about this product, when you spray it on you it will more than likely end up in your hair, even if just a little bit. This amazing pink stuff does NOT leave your hair greasy or oily after it dries. Not even a little. It just leaves it smelling delicious.
3. They're Real! Mascara from Benefit
This review you can take or leave. The reason I say this is because I have been using this product for less than a month. My birthday is in mid to late September and Sephora gives you a birthday "present" during your birthday month. Well I of course picked the Benefit packages over the male whatever it was. In my birthday surprise was this and a highlighting product that I'll review later.
When I read reviews on this mascara it seemed that people either loved or hated it so basically they were no help. Either way I love trying new mascara so I was excited. (I love lashes, idk why)
So far I love this stuff. It without a doubt makes my lashes longer, thicker and blacker than any other mascara I have ever used. I wish I would have had this on my wedding day!
I wouldn't go so far to say that it makes my lashes look like false lashes which I'm assuming is the marketing point for this product (ie the name) but it is pretty darn close. They come out thinner than false lashes do on me which is the only reason I say that, but still thicker than normal!
I really really like this product so far. I haven't found anything that I don't like about the product itself. The packaging is another subject. I'm not a huge fan of the ridged rubber wands that many mascara a are going to these days But I completely understand why this product needs it. The end of the wand however contains some sort of old fashion torture device!! (See picture) That thing HURTS! I honestly think I'd rather step on 10,000 Legos than poke my self in the eye with that thing. I know it's for application reason but it sure does make it easy to blind yourself. So just be aware of that when you go to use it.
4. After Party by TIGI
I love this product! I have super long and thick hair so any product that can make my hair last even a day longer without a wash and hours of styling is a product I'm willing to try (hence the dry shampoo review.)
After Party is a silky-ish paste that you squeeze out of this pink semi-sexual looking bottle. In your hands this product does seem like it will make your hair oily or greasy, but it doesn't. Like I said I have a (almost) one year old so styling my hair isn't always something I get to do which is one of the reasons I purchased this product. I love it! It's prefect for next day hair. It smoothes frizz, adds a pleasant fragrance and keeps it looking great all day. It's perfect for anyone with a fast paced life, like mommies or as the bottle indicates, our party prone friends. I simply wake up, brush my hair and put a small glob of this throughout my head. I'm then ready to flat iron, curl or just throw up frizz free. I know I sound like an info-mercial but seriously I love it. Not crazy about the price and I'm sure you'd get some strange looks if you through it in your purse one day but...yea it's still awesome. Highly recommended for all hair types!
5. Joico K-PAK reconstruct shampoo and conditioner
I have been using this stuff for years. It does an amazing job at taming the craziness that lives atop my noggin. I generally try to buy both the shampoo and conditioner in the liter bottles to save money. I really do like this stuff and use it probably 4 out of the 5 times a week I wash my hair. (No I don't wash it daily, my scalp is very dry when I do) the other time I use a clarifying shampoo to rid my hair of the gunk build up. This stuff does a really good job at smoothing frizzy and dry hair. It makes My hair super soft too. I have tried probably a dozen shampoos in the last 3 years and I always go back to this one. If ou haven't tried Joico products you need to buy some samples and try them out. They have a varity of different products to use based on your hair type and condition. If you can only afford one of the set, I highly suggest buying the conditioner. Of course it works best with the shampoo but it still has the amazing smoothing factor even when used with other, cheaper shampoos. Your hair says a lot about you so it's one area you should take are of and splurge on. Every girl knows how confident you feel when you feel like your hair looks good.
Well that is all for today. I know it wasn't much for a favorites post but like I said before, it's been a crazy month. If I did anything else I feel like I wouldn't be giving you guys honest, full hearted reviews. So please forgive my lack of activity lately!!
Give these products a try! I spent a few days thinking about what I wanted to put as my favorites for September and these were at the top of my list. As always, if you have any suggestions of would like me to try a favorite of yours Just leave me a message or comment I'll do my best to get the product ASAP! :)
Stay Beautiful everyone,
Emily!
